The Physical Copy Drama That Wasn’t Brought Up in the Trailers
Most customers will not realize this until they have the game in their hands. If you buy a physical copy of GTA 6, you will not receive a game disc. Instead, you will get a download code lined with a paper insert that is in the shape of a game box. The physical and digital buyers can preload the game during this window. You read that right. There is no game disc.
While there are many theories as to why Rockstar decided to do this, most of them center around the prevention of game spoilers. In the weeks before the in-game launch of November 19, 2026, there would be game leaks if Rockstar sent a physical game disc out to retailers. GTA Online cross-platform play is currently a mystery. It is unknown if server sharing for PS5, Xbox, and PC players will be possible when GTA 6 launches. For many players, the online mode will extend their play of this game for decades, making the silence of information surrounding the mode especially noticeable.
