Even though Babar Azam is in better form than before, he is still on his journey to scoring his first Test century.
Babar’s Tour to scoring his first century was delayed by a mix-up with his partner, Abdullah Shafique. Unfortunately for him, Pakistan’s Test captain for this series, Babar was dismissed after scoring 88 runs off of 147 balls at the Port of Spain Second Test.
Babar azam out today had his opportunity to score single number 89. He left for a single after Jomel Warrican’s fifth ball of the 75th over arrived on the off side. Brandon King, on cover, threw the ball to the non-striker’s end to break the run. King, in the process, got injured and had to be removed via stretcher.
The mix-up happened after the West Indies built great pressure and kept an amazing field paving the way to no easy runs.
Babar was the second highest run scorer in this series after a century in the practice match before the first Test followed by a brilliant 58 at the end of second Test first Innings.
On Tuesday, Babar scored 88, his highest since December 2022 when he scored 161 in the first Test against New Zealand in Karachi. That was his third century in seven Tests and Babar has not scored a Test century since then.
On Tuesday, Babar and Shafiq scored 183 runs in 237 balls, the second highest partnership in the second wicket in the Test. Babar has crossed 150 and is currently the highest scorer in the game, anchoring the Pakistan innings while they lost a couple of wickets after he got out. Shafiq’s knock has helped Pakistan take a lead in the match.
